One Mans Trash Is Another Mans Treasure

Image
Hello Friends, The other night we were driving home and Jonathan looked over and saw something on the side of the road. It is not even close to big trash day in our area so it stuck out like a sore thumb. We stopped and noticed it was an old top to a cabinet. It looked worthless because there was nothing to do with it since it wasn't all there. We began to drive away when I noticed the stained glass doors!! We went back and Jonathan worked the doors off so we could bring them back and use them as decor. I am in love!! They are the perfect piece for our house. Without further ado... I love it! I think they are beautiful! Making old things new, Whitney

Desk Redo

We found this desk on the side of the road a while ago and decided to try something new. I am really into the raw wood look right now and I didn't really need the desk for writing on so I decided to give it a little different look. We cut the wood planks from an old pallet we found on the side of the road. This project only cost us $10, and that was for the paint! Let me just say, I. AM. IN. LOVE! A lot of people have given me grief over it not being uniform and the cracks being big, but I really like it!! Let me know what you think?!  Yucky desk that looked like it was not worth anything.   We just threw some old white paint on it, to prime it for the color. And then we measured and glued the boards on top.    Did a little sanding to get the rough edges and splinters off.   And because I'm all about the natural wood look, we just coated it with some polyurethane. Isn't it amazing?! I LOVE it!  Making Old Things New, Whi

Old Pallet Made New

I am all about taking old things and making them new. I am still learning to embrace it. My husband is so much better at stepping out and taking the old and actually doing something about it.  He came home from work the other day with an old pallet piece. He was extremely excited. I took one look at it and was a little bewildered about what to do with it.  As it sat in our house I took a closer look at what it looked like and an image formed in my head. It looked like a broken piece of fence. I became very excited about the new piece and instantly knew I had to hang it in my house.  Like I said before my husband is so much better at making things happen. A lot of times I cast the vision but lack the motivation to make it happen. If it were up to me, the project would have taken me much longer to complete even though it really didn't need much; it just needed some sanding and a little paint.  Without further ado, here is the finished product!!  We did a little
